Is Allocate really free?
Yes — free with no ads, no subscriptions, and no limits on groups, members, or expenses. If that ever changes we will say so clearly in advance, and your data will never be locked behind a paywall.
Does money actually move through Allocate?
No. Allocate is a bookkeeping tool: it records who paid what and computes who owes whom. When you settle up, you pay each other however you normally would (cash, bank transfer, Venmo…) and record the payment in the app.
What if my friends don't have the app yet?
Add them to a group by name and start logging expenses right away. When they install Allocate, they join with your group's invite code and claim their spot — all their expense history comes with it.
How do splits work?
Split any expense equally between whoever took part, or enter exact amounts per person. Allocate tracks how much is assigned and how much is left while you type, and balances always sum to zero.
Can a group use a different currency?
Yes. Each group has its own currency, chosen from over twenty, and you can change it any time — even after expenses have been logged.
How does settling up work?
Allocate simplifies the group's debts so the fewest possible payments clear everyone. Tap a balance, record the payment, and the ledger updates for the whole group in real time.
Can I see what one person is involved in?
Yes — every member has a personal feed. Tap anyone in a group to see exactly which expenses include them, what their share is, and the payments they've made or received.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app: Profile → Delete account. It permanently removes your profile, memberships, and orphaned groups. You can also use our Data & Privacy forms if you no longer have the app installed.
What platforms does Allocate run on?
Allocate is launching on iPhone first. Sign in with Apple or with email — your groups sync across sign-ins and work offline too.
